Yesterday our champion, Jay, made it all the way to the top of the money pile. Now we're going to give him a chance to walk away and let someone else have a turn. What do you want to do, Jay? Keep playing. (Audience cheers.) That's the spirit! Once you're on top, you want to stay there forever and deprive everyone else of hope. But you have all the money. What else could you be greedy for? How about talent? That makes sense. But we can't give you talent. What are you going to do about it? Spend my money to punish someone with talent? Spend money? That's not how we get to the top of the money pile. Steal work from someone with talent and pass it off as my own? Now you're talking, Jay. That way you can make more money, destroy those you envy, and at least have the illusion of being talented, which is all that really matters in our full-of-shit consumer culture. You know, Jay, our network executives just love you. You keep on winning here and there may be a job waiting for you as the host of a popular late night talk show. |
