Classic Flicks: The Slaves of Cleopatra

Classic Flicks: The Slaves of Cleopatra
Tonight on Classic Flicks, we proudly present The Slaves of Cleopatra.

(Cleopatra sits at the dinner table.)

Cleopatra: Slave! Bring my dinner! (Enter a slave with a tray of food. She puts it down in front of the queen and tries to exit hastily.) Hold it right there! Why is this wine so off colour? Take a sip. (The slave puts the chalice to her lips and appears to swallow the drink with no reaction.) You're lucky. (The slave hands Cleopatra the chalice but is unable to hide spitting the wine into the pot of a nearby houseplant which immediately wilts and dies.) I SAID DRINK IT! (The slave drinks the deadly mixture and drops dead on the floor.) Take her away! (The body is removed.) So much for dinner. I needed to lose a few pounds anyway. Perhaps I'll pass the evening with a little seeing. Slave! Bring my crystal ball! (Enter a slave holding a crystal ball. He puts it down in front of the queen.) Wait there until I'm through with it. And keep your distance because it produces highly toxic gases. (She looks into the ball and gases form.) I see a vision. I see you, slave. You are smashing my crystal ball over my head! Guards! (Enter guards.) Take him away and impale him on a stake! (Exit guards with prisoner.) Sheesh! I need entertainment after all this treachery. Send in my snake charmer! (Enter the snake charmer. He plays a few notes and asps leap out of his basket and attack the queen's face, but she manages to grab them and whack their heads against the table.) Guards! Guards! (Enter guards.) Take him away and impale him, but beat him up first! (Exit guards with prisoner.)

I just don't understand it. They have a great job here. What more could they possibly want?
